As a co-principal investigator and grantee of the LACUNA Fund, Prof G.M.T Emezue was invited to Kigali, Rwanda, for the LACUNA Fund convening meeting, which was held between 14 June - 17 June 2023.
The LACUNA Convening meeting, which featured several intensive workshops and presentation sessions, was organized by the Meridian Institute UISA on behalf of LACUNA Fund and was held at the Radisson Blu Kigali Convention Center (KG 2 Rd, Kigali, Umujyi Wa Kigali. The LACUNA fund is a grant for promoting researchers in low-resourced languages of the world, and it is funded by organizations such as the Rockefeller Foundation, Google.org and other major funders.
In 2012/2022. Prof G.M.T Emezue and her co-Principal Investigator and co-grantee, Chris Emezue, won the LACUNA fund for their project entitled “NaijaVoices: Curating 1500 Hours in the three major Nigerian Languages: Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba”
